Individuals, schools and companies can get involved through participation in various special projects hosted annually:
CHANGE FOR CHANGE
Request a Change for Change moneybox and fill it with all the small annoying small change that fills your wallet. Challenge family, friends and colleagues to do the same and see who can fill their box first. When your moneybox is full, take it to NID or pay the amount into the NID bank account.
Your small change can help people with hearing loss to live life to the full.
MYSCHOOL MYVILLAGE MYPLANET
NID is part of this programme which helps raise funds for schools, charities and environmental concerns across South Africa. Please support us and make every swipe count for the Deaf and persons with hearing loss at NID. Every time you present your NID linked card when purchasing at participating retail partners, they will donate a % of the transaction amount to NID.
Existing cardholders can visit https://www.myschool.co.za and nominate NID as a beneficiary on their card or contact us to apply for a free card. You can support up to 3 beneficiaries on your card.
Please consider adding NID today!
This is an annual fundraising event featuring 4 teams, of 9 Deaf cyclists each, cycling for 24 hours on exercise bicycles in our local shopping centre. The teams compete against each other to cycle the furthest distance in the 24 hours. During the cycling donors, partners and friends are phoned and asked to pledge a contribution towards the project.
Make your pledge and help us better the effort by challenging somebody to do the same or send us names of people who we can challenge on your behalf.
RUN/RIDE FOR THE DEAF
Raise awareness and funds for NID through your participation in a running, cycling or any other sporting event of your choice.
Events such as the NID Commemorative Run, Two Oceans Half Marathon and NID Marathon Tour have created the opportunity for sport enthusiasts with a passion for seeing the lives of others improved, to make a difference in the lives of persons with hearing loss at NID.
If you are a woman with compassion for the Deaf and the drive to make a difference, you can apply to become a Caring Woman.
By being a Caring Woman you make a difference for the Deaf and NID by being an ambassador and activist for them, creating awareness of deafness and hearing loss and by giving monthly financial support.
